Igneous Rocks

For our Outdoor Hour Challenge we learned about Igneous Rocks. I found this book at the library and it gave a nice and short introduction to this kind of rock: perfect for my sons age. Even though this challenge did not get us out side, no igneous rocks close by, I did happen to have a lava rock on hand to show him. The best part of this lesson was he tried draw all by himself. This is his first time, before this he would always ask me to draw it. Woot!!

  1. Rocks are really difficult to draw too…excellent job for the nature journal. Thanks for sharing the book and your study with the OHC Carnival.

In Spring I read Seeds, Seeds, Seeds by the same author. The books do a great job of teaching kids without being boring or over their heads.
