Galls

This month, one of the Outdoor Hour Challenges was for Galls. Wingnut and I went for several walks to no avail, nada, nothing. :( But, when I was doing my research about galls I remembered two pictures that I had taken previously of weird things that I had no idea what they were. Guess what? They were galls! I am actually really happy to find out what they were.
This one randomly grew on leaves. Some had multiple pink nodules and some leaves had only one. I thought they were beautiful. Next year I am going to try finding it again so I can see what plant it grew and do some more research.

This one is an apple gall that grows on oak trees and caused by a wasp. I found this one when we went to California. Originally, I had though it was a normal part of an oak tree but now I know I was wrong, lol.

    Thanks.

Great photos! Love the first one of the pink nodules … reminds me of some we saw in Norway. I didn’t realize they were galls until I saw your picture! Love that we are always learning from one another via Barb’s challenges. :)
