May Study – Lilac

For the month of May Handbook of Nature Study gave us four assignments but due to being sick most of the month we only got around to one of them which was the garden flower one. We chose our Lilac tree because it is in bloom currently and smells divine.
Wingnut picked some flowers. This Lilac is very old and huge!

We did some observing. We took note of the colors and shape of the flowers and how the color changes when the flowers start to die.

We used the scrapbook page that was provided and drew the lilac. Wingnut insisted that I draw the flowers and he would draw the leaves :)

Beautiful!

I really love lilacs. I love the smell of them in the morning, or after the rain. Our new town doesn’t seem to be much of a Lilac Town. I do have a row of honeysuckle, that is wonderful in the heat of the summer. ;) Can’t complain.
