Dandelions

This weeks Outdoor Hour was on Dandelions.

It seems that even though rabbits are supposed to eat dandelions we seem to have more than normal. Maybe the constant pruning makes the flowers happy.
We did some picking which he LOVES to do.

We found one where the seeds had started to float away.

They suggested digging one up so wingnut got his little shovel out and did some digging. We took a look at the thick tap-root.

Not sure if you can tell in this picture but there is a lot of pruning from the bunnies :)

We also watched this time-lapse video of a dandelion. It is amazing, so go watch it!

Great post! Thanks for sharing the amazing video. We enjoyed watching it. Rabbits aren’t the only ones that like to eat dandelions. My boys like to eat the greens. :-)

    we like the greens, too!

  3. Beautiful photo of the mass of dandelions. I have been reading a few posts about people making wine, jam and eating the greens. We have had no rain so there are none growing. But even last spring when we had some rain, I don’t remember many at all. I think dandelion jam sounds interesting. Emily
