Kitchen Helper

Can you tell which ones wingnut helped with? Whenever I bake now he is right beside me wanting to help, it is the cutest thing.

I thought I would share this recipe with all of you. I received it from my mother-in-law who is queen of good cheap food.

Jelly Filled Biscuits

2 cups all-purpose flour

4 teaspoons baking powder

2 Tablespoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/2 cup oil

3/4 cup milk

Preheat oven 450 degrees.

Mix all the ingredients together. Take a small ball of dough and flatten it on a floured surface. spoon some jelly in the center and pinch the dough together. This takes some practice but once you get it, it is as easy as pie :P

Place biscuits on a greased baking sheet and cook for 10-12 min.

Let cool a bit because hot jelly burns!

Enjoy.

That looks tasty! I wonder if you could put cheese inside instead of jelly?

  2. Pixie says:

its so cute that he wants to help! those look so yummy! you always cook the best stuff!

  3. That’s good that he likes to cook. That is an invaluable skill to obtain:)

  4. He likes it so much he goes into the kitchen and tries to cook all by himself. It is scary. Like today he got out a carrot and started to cut it. It is a good thing I already gave him a lesson on knives. He knows there is a sharp and flat side and to not curl his fingers under the knife. But man, it is scary!

  5. Man, that kid is fearless! That is really scary O_o don’t want little fingers to get cut! I still remember my history of knife accidents…I cringe…

Mmmm… yum! It is fun to have a helper in the kitchen. Sometimes though, I’m a little too much of a control freak, and that definitely takes away from his fun. I need to work on that.
