Enjoying A Pumpkin

I saw a hammering activity at My Montessori Journey and new I had to do it with Wingnut. I decided to make the most of the pumpkin by starting out with cleaning it :)

Then I shared the life cycle of a pumpkin cards from Montessori for Everyone. This is the first time Wingnut used three-part cards correctly! Then I proceeded to show wingnut how to use a hammer. He had a blast.

After a bit, He decided he wanted to cut open the pumpkin like one of the pictures on the cards, so we did. He then spent quite a long time picking each and every seed out.

After he was done collecting all the seeds I cooked them up. He tried one and spit it right back out, lol.

That is a great idea to hammer nails into something that gives a little like a pumpkin. Wingnut is already way ahead of a lot of 20 year old guys who don’t even know how to use a hammer at all. He’ll be glad he’s got an early start!

Mmm… I love roasted pumpkin seeds! Wingnut is missing out!

Who knew there were so many ways to use a pumpkin? Very cool.

This looks like and awesome time was had by all. How old is Wingnut? I’d love to do this with L.D. but I think he’s too young. Is two too little for hammering?
