Budget

A friend of mine has challenged herself, and any one who wanted to join, to spend less then they normally do on there food and non food items for the month of October. Since what I spend a month is pretty low to begin with I decided to try for $150. I gathered up my recipes and made my list and went shopping. What I bought came to $120. That leaves $30 for milk and fruit for the next month. This will feed us for a bit more then one month, I am aiming for 40 days. The hardest part is not eating out and not buying those random purchases, you know what I am talking about, like ice cream :)

Here is the meal plan:
Oatmeal
Eggs
Leftovers
sandwiches
Anything I happen to bake.

Dinners: (10 dinners doubled makes 20. Each dinner is made to last two days. Yes I control our portion sizes :P )
Red Chile Chicken and rice with black beans
New Yorker Subs
Homemade mac and cheese
Stew
Shepherd’s pie
Mexican Rice Salad
Baked cheesy chicken Penne
Hamburger Barley Soup
Lemon Rosemary Roasted Chicken
Chicken Enchilada Pasta

Anyhoo, I hope this works!

    Your my hero!

I am sincerely confused…you’re spending $150, less actually, for an ENTIRE month of food products? Literally? We have to talk if that’s the case SERIOUSLY

Joe wants to know if you control Lance’s cash too…

Sorry wasn’t done…as in, where he buys snacks and when…little something here and there…

Wow! It sounds like you are off to a good start. I think part of my problem is going to the grocery store is like therapy for me, which makes it way too easy to buy stuff I don’t need. :P

    Good luck this month!
