Geometric Cabinet

One item that is used in a Montessori classroom is the Geometric Cabinet. It basically is a little cabinet with different shape in it. When looking around at prices I quickly realized that I was not going to pay 150$ for it. I did come up with a plan though. I bought the presentation tray so I could have them displayed nicely when I introduce them to wingnut. I repainted it to be more pleasant of the eyes. Here is the pic of it now. I forgot to take a picture of it when it was a horrible blue and yellow color.

My plans for it to come is to make the other shapes out of polymer clay. I have an easy recipe using cornstarch and glue and think this will come out quite nicely. When I complete this big project I will share the results with you :)

Have you made anything interesting lately?

I love the colors of your new Geometric Cabinet. That is great idea to get the presentation tray then make the inserts/frames. I have been looking everywhere to find a geometric cabinet that is in neutral colors. I like the one at Montessori n’such (I bought the presentation tray) but the full cabinet is very expensive. What kind of paint did you use on your presentation tray? Are you going to make a cabinet? Montessori n’such has the option of buying the trays without a cabinet which is an option I have considered.

I like the way you painted it. I am very interested to see how your clay pieces turn out.
