My Once A Month Cooking

This month I was able to convince my sister to join in :) Here she is hauling all her stuff in.

There was a LOT of prep work because my sister did the whole menu and I did half. Here is a link to the menu, at Once A Month Mom, that we used.

We were so focused that this was the only cooking shot I got of my sister.

There were a few oops moments, like when I asked my sister where her refrigerated pie dough was and she pointed to this :) I had to laugh but also understood she does not cook that much and did not know refrigerated pie dough existed.

The second mishap was with the stuffed pancake cupcakes. I made mine first like the recipe said and the filling sunk to the bottom when cooking so when they were removed from the tin this is what the bottoms looked like.

So when doing my sisters, I decided to just put the filling on top. When I asked my sister where her pie filling was she was like, “What pie filling?”. Needless to say she went to the store to get some. By the time she got back the muffins had started to rise and go over the edges. I made a poor decision and still put the filling on top. This is what it looked like when we pulled it out of the oven.

Overall it went really smooth and we ended up with a ton of food.

There was more food then in just those two pictures, lol.

Here is a picture of the after math.

And I will be doing a lot of loads of dishes today.

I spent 160.39 on 30 meals.
That is 5.34 a meal or 1.33 per person!

Holy cow! You sure stretched your dollars well. That’s just awesome. And lucky you… all you have to do now is open the fridge/freezer and heat up and go. Someday I really am going to have to try this out.

Wow! that IS a ton of food! I have to thank you for giving me such a good laugh today, your poor muffins just cracked me up! That is something that happens at our house way too often!

  4. Love, love, love it. Call me crazy, but I like reading about the mistakes too. It is nice to know I am not alone in making them. So glad you joined in this month and great savings!

I made the pancake muffins a few weeks ago and that happened to me too. I made another batch last week and used muffin cups instead of just butter on the pan, much better for my use.

I love the pictures, and that you had your sister to help you too! Such a great time together!!

  6. Your sink looked similar to mine. :) It sure does make a mess when you cook that much, but boy is it worth it in the end!
