Potty Training Update :)

I am so happy to announce we are having progress around here. I owe it all to this article. Don’t be fulled by the three days it takes longer then that but it has some GREAT tips. The thing that worked for us was the potty dance. Sounds weird but it worked. When he got even a couple drops of pee in his potty I would pick him up and dance around the house singing, “Wingnut went pee in the potty” to the tune of “He’s a jolly good fellow”. He loved it. So as of today he gets about 75% of his pee and poo in the toilet without me having to ask do you need to pee or even setting him on the potty and trying to make him go. This only happens when he is naked, if I put training pants on him he will not use his potty. So I am going to wait three months like the article suggests before using them again. There are still accidents and going out of the house is a pain but I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel :)

    Woo hoo!!! Go, Wingnut! :)

I really need to just get over myself and start trying the potty training thing. At this point, I’m pretty sure the only thing holding the boy and I back is me. :P

Yaaaay! I’m so glad to hear that you are having some success. I just went and read that article that you linked to, and now I really want to try it. I just want to make sure the timing is right. We’re doing ok here with the potty, but only with poo. He seems to be clueless about the pee, and it was getting crazy around here, with clothing changes every twenty minutes, and pee everywhere. Now we are wearing diapers again and concentrating on just the poo. But I like the idea of doing a serious 3 day, no pants, full on approach. But I might have to wait till we have warmer weather. I do live in Canada after all, and it is freezing here right now. Thanks for the good link!
