Open Ended Art – Crayons

This weeks open ended art at Teaching My Little Bookworm was Crayons. Wingnut is not a big fan of crayons so I knew I would have to do something different. So I thought rubbings but once again I over estimated my child’s abilities. Instead of rubbing over the sandpaper shapes on another piece of paper he wanted to decorate the shapes.

So that is what he did. Oh, after the brief crayons he quickly moved on to markers. He made several other marker drawings that day.

Have you started work at the school yet? Hope it has gone well!

Isn’t it funny how what we expect and what they expect/do is almost always totally different? Hey, he made something cool and hopefully had fun in the process, right:-). Can’t wait to see what you guys do with pebbles next week!

  3. great idea! I love his crayon work! :)

  4. I love the idea of using sandpaper for the rubbings! Great job letting him so as he desired, though! *Ü*

I like his artwork, even if it’s not what you intended. My boys would rather draw with markers as well…

That was a good idea though! What did you use to cut the sandpaper? I keep thinking about doing it, but don’t want to ruin a pair of scissors.

Nice idea – too bad Wignut had other plans. It seems from the comments on my entry that a lot of toddlers would rather use markers. I can see why – they are brighter, and one doesn’t have to use a lot of force to make a line. I can’t wait to see what you will do with pebbles.
