Opened Ended Art: Yellow And Painting

At Teaching My Little Bookworm, the theme for the opened ended art for this week was yellow and painting. I had seen the recipe and pictures of sidewalk chalk paint around blog land recently and decided to give it a go. The recipe is:

1 part water
1 part cornstarch
food coloring

It worked like a charm. When it dries it looks like chalk. I have not hosed it down yet so not sure if it comes off nicely :) Anyways, he hated it. This is all he did and refused to do it again, lol.

Funny, most kids love to paint and things like that!

Your dear Jane blocks are looking great!

We’ve tried sidewalk chalk with little success. I wonder if using a paintbrush would be more fun for him? I’m really enjoying reading about your art adventures with Wingnut. Lots of fun ideas! :)

I saw the recipe too and didn’t try it yet. We tried usual chalk without much success so far. It’s good to know that I am not the only one whose child won’t do anything until she is really interested in the activity :)

That sounds interesting. Have you tried getting it off yet? We rent, so I don’t want to try anything like this unless I’m sure it can be removed!
