Wingnut Update

I have been meaning to say a couple of things about wingnut and have kept forgetting. One, he no longer is using a pacifier. Two, he is now sleeping in a toddler bed. I am so amazed at how well he adapts. I always hear these stories about kids who cannot accept change and this makes me so scared when I think about changing something on him. But he always blows me away. I love him so much. Anyhoo, about the pacifier, the day he turned two we took them away. He has never asked for one and has been falling asleep just fine without it. The toddler bed was a decision I made based on fostering independence in my kid. How can they be independent and gain self esteem if they cannot go to bed and get out of bed when they need. Granted he will never choose to go to bed. :) Once again, he did so well with this change. The first night, for ten minutes, he got out and we put him back in over and over again. But when those ten minutes were up it was as if he just knew he had to stay there. Naps and bedtime have been great. I need to make his two year checkup appointment. So when that happens, I will update again.

Good for Wingnut! My little dude literally jumped out of his crib at 23 months, so we had to move to the toddler bed. He just wasn’t ready. It took about 3 months before he really seemed down with the change. And as soon as we moved to the toddler bed, the naps went away. Sigh… I miss naps.
