So That Quilt recently posted an applique block for us to do. When I saw it I instantly got nervous. For some reason the thought of applique scared me, maybe because it is more curvy. I tend to do better with lines. For example, I can’t draw people but can draw buildings. Only one of my friends quilts and she was gone for the week so I could not talk to her and I had never seen applique ever done before. Well, I posted a comment on crafty musings website mentioning being scared and so she did the sweetest thing and wrote me and email with some tips and encouragement. I got to say that helped. She gave me the tip of using a toothpick to help turn the fabric under and that helps a lot. She also shared some links that relived my apprehension.

Then I did a google searched and found this one that helped as well.

The end result is this block.

For the first time I would have to say it is not to bad. But, there is some fraying. So I am going back over it to secure it that way I won’t worry about it when I wash the quilt. I also did not use matching thread. LOL. I can’t believe I did that one actually. Also, I learned that stich size needs to be small.
This block will go into my quilt as a rememberance of my quilting progress. That is why I wanted to do this quilt, so I could learn.
