Wow the last time I wrote a wingnut report he was 12 months. But like I said in an earlier post I have been in a funk. I have had to reorganize my life. But enough about me this is about wingnut. Lets start with the issues first. I think the terrible twos started early, fit throwing has set in. I hope this does not mean that when he turns two it will get worse. I am mentally preparing myself for that. Eating has been an issue lately because we made the decision to stop giving him baby food. Lets just say he does not like all that much other than baby food. He is really picky and not in a consistent way like things that are slimy or green. It is purely random which makes feeding him hard. He does not eat as healthy now which really bothers me. I think I am going to start giving him vitamins so I don’t worry so much. I also keep reminding myself that this happens a lot with children and I am not alone. He does have some favorite foods like, graham crackers, Ritz, fruit snacks, french fries, juice, and milk. Those are the only things I can get him to eat on a regular bases. Another issue is he is not talking yet, or I am being to picky as to what classifies as talking. So far he only says daddy for sure. Sometimes I think he says Luna, our dogs name, but even then I am not sure. The doc says he should be doing animal sounds as well. He does not do that but every now and then he will make a car noise when playing with his car toys. Well, to help settle my fears there is a “no child left behind” program where someone will come to your house and do a screening to see if there is some reason for the delay in speech. They check hearing and the development of there mouth and even eyes because I guess if your eye site is poor it can cause delays. It is weird with children that things come in steps and if they don’t reach that step it will delay everything that comes next. So hopefully nothing is wrong and I am just expecting too much perfection.

So those were the issues the rest is just normal development weather good like being more independent or irritating like never sitting still all day. He has started climbing everything and anything. He has learned that if he moves something to a counter he can get whatever is up there. And that something is anything that he can get his hands on from his toy truck to a case of water bottles. He is also getting more independent everyday he wants to do everything himself, especially when it comes to stuff he sees us do like drink out of a glass he then wants to drink from his own glass. So we have been giving him a cup with just a little bit of water in it. The cutest thing is when he spills a little bit he runs to the laundry pile grabs a towel and wipes it up then puts the towel back in the laundry. So cute! The sleeping department has been good. He falls asleep at nine, wakes up at six thirty, then takes a one and a half to two hour nap around noon.

I can’t believe how much he has grown! he does not look like a little baby anymore. He is turning into a little boy. Gaining so much personality it is amazing. I am waiting for the day he can tell me stuff. I want to know what he is thinking and to truly get to know my little boy instead of assuming what he likes.

While I am typing this he is watching “A Night at the Museum” and it is at the part where he finds out the dinosaur has come to life, well wingnut let out a little screech hid behind me and held on. But at the same time never took his eyes off the TV. It was really cute. That reminds me he loves watching TV already. I have had to cut back his TV watching time because he just wants to watch it all day long.

I have been taking wingnut to a parent tot swim class on Tuesdays. He hates it. But I am going to keep doing it for multiple reasons. It is good for him to get out of the house and be around other children. Swimming is a very important skill. Especially where we live, water is everywhere. Also, it is structured. He is such an active kid it is hard to get him to slow down and focus. So I wanted something that would challenge that. An example is there was another class I was thinking about where pretty much the kids just played in an indoor gym. But he does that all day long no structure just running around playing with whatever he wants, granted it is not with other kids. But swimming is more structured. There is a teacher and we do little activities like gather floating balls and put them in buckets, or go around in circles and sing songs or play in a fountain. He is liking it a little more then when we first started which is nice.
