Learning to knit

The other day my niece and my brother-in-law were over, and to my surprise my brother-in-law asked if I could teach him how to knit. I was a little shocked. Probably because my husband is completely against men knitting. He told me a long time ago that I could not teach his brother how to knit unless he specifically asked me to teach him. So I was so excited when he asked. I see nothing wrong with men knitting and I think it is a good skill to learn when young. It teaches hand eye coordination, and how to follow directions. Which, amazingly, a lot of adults don’t know how to do. So I got out my huge needles and some green yarn so that when he showed my husband it was a manly color and not pink. LOL. I think he really enjoyed it and caught on quite quickly. In the back is my niece who is a natural at knitting. I showed her once and she instantly got it. Just so you know how old they are my niece is nine and my brother-in-law is eight. Question for everyone out there: What is the earliest age you have heard of someone learning how to knit or crochet? My mom taught me how to crochet when I was five. I started to knit when I was about ten.

LOL I just started learning how to crochet. I’ve been teaching myself and I haven’t made too many things (school kinda gets in the way) but I made a scarf and I’m working on an afghan right now.
