A while back I bought an old used spinning wheel off of ebay for really cheap. The catch was it needed to be fixed. So that is what I have been up to lately, fixing it. I decided to fix the wheel first since it is in the worst shape. The outer circle of the wheel is made from two sections, which had come apart through years of use and old age. The problem was I could not make them come together completely. So I got it as close as I could and filled it with wood glue and tied strings around it to keep it in place. It seems to have worked. Also the center part of the wheel was starting to crack and was weak. While I was gluing the outer circle I filled these cracks with glue as well. It now feels really stable. Up next I will work on securing one of the legs that likes to fall out really easy.

I hope when it is all fixed that it will work. I do realize that this spinning wheel will most likely give me problems and may have certain annoying characteristics that will make me want a newer one, but I love this spinning wheel. The best part is it has been well used. Whoever had this wheel before me used it a lot. You can see areas on the wheel where it was starting to break down from use and someone jerry-rigged it to make it work. It makes me feel all fuzzy inside knowing I am fixing it and am going to put it to use again. Another reason I went this route, old cheep spinning wheel, is I wanted to make sure this was something I would enjoy and use regularly before I spent a couple hundred dollars on a newer one.
