I had a lot of fun dying kool-aid with my niece. And I think she had a lot of fun as well. I decided to make my mom some socks and I thought that having my niece dye the yarn would be a nice touch. So I went to the store and purchased 4 different colors for her to pick from and some vinegar. For the jars I bought spaghetti sauce and emptied the jars out. I did save some of the sauce for dinner and then froze the rest. I then let her pick which colors she liked. She ended up picking grape, lemon-lime, and lemonaid. So the sock yarn is now purple green and yellow. I think she picked really well. I then divided the yarn into three sections and tied it. We soaked the yarn in water and vinegar for about 30 min.

Then my niece added five packets of kool-aid to each jar and some vinegar. She mixed them till they were dissolved

and then laid out a dishcloth to put the utensils on.

This surprised me. She actually thought ahead about the kool-aid staining the counter. She sure is a smart girl
Next we put the jars in a stock pot and added water around them. I turned the burner on and waited for it to get warm enough. My niece then added the yarn to the jars and then we waited. (Sorry I forgot to take a picture of this step) When the water was clear we removed the yarn and let it cool. We did a final rinse and hung the yarn to dry. Here is the result.

The next morning I decided I would try a different way of making a ball of yarn only to make one big pile of knots. I got really frustrated and decided to wind it up like I normally do on a paper towel roll.
